Larry Chen has checked out a Veilside 2023 Nissan Z, that pays tribute to the Hans Mazda RX-7 and is set to feature in the latest Fast & Furious.
The Nissan Z is one of the most anticipated sports cars of recent times. It continues the long line of Nissan Fairlady cars that goes right back to the 240Z, and the latest edition very much feels like a true Z car in the way the 350Z and 370Z might not have. Amazingly though, there are people out there who are already getting their hands on the Z to modify and make even more spectacular. That is thanks to the art of tuning and modifying.
Famed videographer and photographer Larry Chen has been posting some amazing content recently. But one of his latest pieces of work is this video featuring a Nissan Z created by Sung Kang and Veilside Team. This is a truly stunning looking car, but a strange tribute to the Mazda RX-7 driven by Han from Tokyo Drift. It’s a stunning looking car, one that comes from a long line of cars that Veilside have produced. If you thought the standard Nissan Z looked cool, then you are going to think that this Nissan Z is a work of art.
A Dramatic Restyling Of The Nissan Z
Veilside are hugely famous for modifying cars in this fashion. Extreme bodykits and tuning are their forte. And they did do the work on the Mazda RX-7 that was in Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift. So they have plenty of pedigree when it comes to extreme tuning and wild bodykits. This particular Z is a very early production model, and it was on show at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon. As Chen mentions, one of the things that really stands out is the chrome across the top of the windows. It’s forging that recreates that seen on Samurai sword.
This looks like a bolt-on widebody, but it actually isn’t that. The kit just clips onto the car and while you do get some extra width it is only really for the look of the car. You don’t get a bigger wheel and tire setup. It’s a bit more of a subtle way to make the car look a little bit bigger. The guys at Veilside even have their own badge at the front, replacing the original Nissan badge. There are plenty of other areas in which they’ve tweaked the Nissan too.

The grille area is one part which was of course criticized a bit with the Nissan Z. But Veilside have split the grille intake up a bit, and reshaped it to make it look a bit more flowing. It stops it looking quite as angular as it did before. The entire front bumper is new too, so we see winglets and turning vanes and a rather cool looking front lip at the bottom. The fenders are now widened at the front as well, and some neat venting integrated into it.
The hood is a work of art. The Veilside JDM flair is across it with their name all over the hood and fading towards the back of it. The black of the center of the hood really compliments the orange of the Nissan Z well. As Chen says, Veilside went right down to the bare metal to do a full color change to the Nissan Z. This helps it to really resemble the Mazda RX-7 from Tokyo Drift. Even the interior has had some work, with some Alcántara on the steering wheel. The interior itself is just as incredible as the outside.

There are some other spectacular body parts on this Nissan. The low-set drag-type wing at the back blends in nicely with the back of the Nissan Z. Even the filler cap is spectacular on this car. The exhaust tips at the very back are quite groovy as well. Chen remarks on how the Nissan Z looks so different to standard, yet it isn’t the wildest modifications you could do. Although there are more cool features such as the air setup that is in the trunk, and the carbon seats inside the cabin.
The Coolest Modifications To The Nissan Z So Farvia Larry Chen YouTube Channel
At the time of filming this video, this car was actually finished just a few days before Chen rocked up to film it. Speaking to Veilside, they reveal they wanted to make the headlight design sharper and more aggressive which is something they absolutely achieved. And the wheels are similar to what the RX-7 also had in Tokyo Drift. Another cool feature? This very car is going in the latest Fast & Furious movie. That alone makes this one of the coolest Nissan Zs that is out there at the moment. It will take some beating for anyone to better this particular Nissan Z.
