ilovemydogsomuch writes that Kratos is an eight-year-old Kangal German Shepherd found in an abandoned garbage dump in Çorum in an extremely weak state. Not only was the abandoned dog malnourished and dehydrated, but he had also completely lost his fur due to the numerous wounds oozing from his body.
,,Rescuers With our Borders” volunteers found Kratos on a freezing day in a muddy pit in a dangerous garbage dump. They were devastated to see the helpless face of the dog, who apparently thought he had a loving family before he fell into this dump. Unfortunately, a story like Krato’s is not rare in Turkey. In the last few months alone, animal welfare workers have rescued more than 800 dogs abandoned in various garbage dumps. Sadly, most of these dogs died before they could get help. Rescuers believe that owners often dispose of their dogs when they are old, sick or no longer needed for ,,work”.
The rescue organization has so far rehabilitated hundreds of ,,junkyard dogs”. Despite their unfortunate situation, these dogs are still friendly and eager to please people. But since it costs between $800 and $2,000 to rescue each dog, the mission to help dogs in landfills has slowed down.
Staff said Kratos is slowly recovering from a weakened immune system and they hope he will be back on his feet in about two months. His fur has grown back and he will be ready to go to his new home as soon as he is fully recovered.
Get well soon, sweet boy!
