Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was absent from Pep Guardiola’s first-team training session on Tuesday afternoon due to ‘personal reasons’.
The Norway international has been arguably City’s stand-out player so far this season, with a staggering 31 goals and three assists to his name across 27 appearances spread over all competitions.
City will be looking towards their focal point across the remainder of the campaign as they continue their pursuit of Arsenal – who sit at the top of the Premier League table via a five-point margin, with a game in hand too.
However, ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming clash against Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, Erling Haaland’s own preparations have been halted by an absence from training on Tuesday afternoon.
That is according to information provided by our colleagues at StatCity, who report that Haaland missed Manchester City’s training session at the City Football Academy due to ‘personal reasons’, as opposed to any injury problems.
Given the nature of the absence, Erling Haaland is not expected to be in any doubt ahead of the weekend’s Premier League return against Tottenham, and could pick up his preparation schedule for the rest of the week as soon as Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola is scheduled to speak with the media ahead of his side’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday afternoon, with Manchester City travelling to the capital on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s face-off with Antonio Conte’s side.
The last meeting between the two sides came at the Etihad Stadium in a thrilling 4-2 contest earlier this month that saw Manchester City 0-2 behind at half-time, but coming back to win courtesy of a stunning Riyad Mahrez performance in the second-half.
The Algerian’s strikes were complimented by a goal from FIFA World Cup winner Julian Alvarez, and another goal from Erling Haaland – unsurprisingly.
