The ’69 Camaro was and still is the most desirable Camaro of all.
The ’69 Camaro was a major player during the golden era of pony/muscle cars. It was known for its one-year styling and unique combinations of powerful 302-ci Z28, 350-ci and 396-ci V-8 engine options.–
Enthusiasts who experienced the muscle car era of the ’60s and early ’70s enjoyed the peak of performance, as it was known back in the day. Detroit automakers were developing and delivering increased horsepower performance with every new model year.
Dave Mausbach, a retired corn and soybean farmer from Columbus, Nebraska, bought a ’70 Nova when he graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey, Nebraska, back in 1974. That Nova was his pride and joy until he sold it in 1977.–
Dave decided to purchase another muscle car, this time a ’69 Camaro, and it served as his weekend driver for 34 years. Fast forward to 2011; Dave met up with life-long buddy Dale Boesch, who owns Hot Rod Concepts in Humphrey. Dale and his crew are known for building some outrageous hot rods and muscle cars. Dave and Dale collaborated on a vision for the Camaro, and as they say, the rest was history.
What you see on this article is the result of a two-year project performed by Dale and his talented crew at Hot Rod Concepts.
Starting with the engine, Dave shied away from today’s popular LS trend, and instead went traditional with a 383 stroker built by AG Industrial Machineworks in Norfolk, Nebraska.Lemons ceramic, silver-coated long-tube headers relinquish waste through a custom-bent Boesch 3-inch crossover exhaust system. Flowmaster 44 mufflers slightly tame the stroker’s 400hp growl. A GM 700-R4 transmission and shift kit manage shifting duties while a 3,000-stall converter ensures aggressive launches off the line.
The seemingly infinite customization continues on the exterior where Dale sprayed the body with eye-catching DuPont Hot Hues Copper Sunset Pearl then added Eggshell stripes cleared over with DuPont Gold Mist.
Beyond the stock ’69 console and shifter, a fully custom Boesch interior features a plethora of one-off goodies and fancy gadgets that will send most any Camaro purist into a four-letter frenzy. Both exterior and interior is a work of art and the rest of the car also showcases an amazing example of top-notch craftsmanship.
