Though Broussard declined the updates regarding the making of any projects related to Young Avengers yet his following statement raised the hopes of fans’ high.
“But a lot of Phase Four was about introducing the next generation and introducing new characters. I think it’s very germane to the Ant-Man film because it’s a generational film… the Ant-Man mantle gets passed down from Hank to Scott and now essentially to Cassie, who’s almost more of like the new Ant-Man, even though she doesn’t go by such, more so than the new Wasp.”
Stephen BroussardIntroduction Of Young Superheroes in The MCU
It is pretty evident that by the recent MCU release that the makers are continuously introducing new superheroes to fill the void left by their predecessors. The introduction of Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop in the Disney+ Hawkeye, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had Letitia Wright as Shuri to replace Chadwick Boseman, Dominique Thorne aka Riri Williams was introduced as Ironheart, Xochitil Gomez as America Chavez in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and now we have Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang in the third sequel of the Ant-Man movie.
It should come as no surprise if the makers decide to kill Rudd’s character in the upcoming movie to shift their focus to the new superhero. In the trailer of the movie, it was pretty evident that Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang will play a major role in the movie. The movie may focus on the origin of the new Ant-Man which goes by the name of Stature/Stinger in the comics. It will be tough for makers to include both Rudd and Newton in the storyline who have similar size-shifting powers obtained from the pym particles.
Kathryn Newton and Paul Rudd
It looks like the exit of Paul Rudd was a matter of time as the story needs to bring young faces to continue the story and character development. The upcoming movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will present a lot of information about the future of Paul Rudd in the MCU as the movie will mark the beginning of the MCU phase 5.
