Erling Haaland has lauded Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard ahead of Manchester City’s huge Premier League clash against the Gunners tonight, with the striker impressed with what he has seen from his international teammate.
Speaking to the Cityzen’s official website, the 22-year-old striker was full of praise for Odegaard as the two prepare to take on one another in the biggest Premier League match of the season so far, with a win for Haaland’s City taking the Manchester side above Arsenal in the standings.
Whilst Haaland has been the goalscoring phenom everyone expected the Norwegian international to be in the Premier League, Odegaard is also enjoying a sensational year for Arsenal, with the playmaker bagging eight goals and five assists for the Gunners in the league.
Indeed, with Odegaard seemingly getting better with each game for Arsenal, the north London side and Mikel Arteta have once again been justified for taking a risk in signing the playmaker last season, who has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in the last 12 months.
The former Real Madrid star has been massive for Arsenal in their unprecedented push for the Premier League title. And for Haaland, the City star is happy to see his international captain finally hit the potential that many expected from Odegaard ever since he was a teenager.
Haaland said when asked about Odegaard’s qualities and why he will be a danger for City tonight: “He is such a good footballer and finally he is getting his full potential out. He is showing the world how good he is. That is really fantastic to see.”
HAALAND RIGHT TO LAUD ODEGAARD AHEAD OF PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE-CLASH
Haaland might be the best goalscorer the Premier League has seen in some years, yet a good case could be made that Odegaard has been the best player in the division this season, with the midfielder playing an instrumental role for Arteta’s side in their quest to win the title.
And with the two facing off tonight in north London, it will be interesting to see which team comes up on top in what is to be arguably one of the most exciting and important fixtures in the Premier League title race, with Arsenal no doubt hopeful of causing an upset against City.
