Chelsea are set to pay €15 million per season to French manager Zinedine Zidane to take charge of the club ahead of next season.
According to a report via Fichajes, Chelsea are ready to break the bank in order to land Zinedine Zidane at the club. The Blues are looking for a new manager to take over the reins from Graham Potter ahead of next season. And, they have identified the French manager as the perfect candidate.
Graham Potter has had a tough time at Chelsea of late. Despite a fortune being spent on acquiring new players, he has failed to deliver results. And, the Blues have been forced to look into the market for a new boss.
Potter took charge of Chelsea in September last year. Before joining the Blues, he was a part of the Brighton setup and had done wonders with the club. But, his move to the London-based club hasn’t gone according to plan. The English manager has only won two out of their last 14 matches.
While the board has been backing him. It looks like they might be forced to bring in a new manager. People at the club believe Zidane could be the one to lead their new project under the ownership of Todd Boehly.
Graham Potter is expected to be in charge until the end of the season. And, the Blues are looking to persuade the former Real Madrid manager by offering him a staggering €15 million per season contract. They want him to take charge of the club ahead of next season and guide them to glory.
Zidane has an excellent track record as a manager. He has won three Champions League and two La Liga titles as the Los Blancos boss. The former French international has a track record like no other and the Blues are willing to do everything in their power to convince him.
Chelsea are ready to bring in the players he wants. And, they are willing to offer him the big bucks to join them. Zidane, who is currently without a club is keen to return to managerial action. And, with the French national team job no longer available, he is likely to join a club soon.
The former Juventus star is on the radar of quite a few clubs. The likes of Paris Saint-German, Real Madrid, and Juventus are all keen on having him manage them. As a result, it will be a difficult task for Chelsea to convince the Frenchman.
Frank Leboeuf urges Chelsea to sign Zinedine Zidane if they sack Graham Potter
The centre-back believes that if Chelsea were to fire Graham Potter, Zidane should take his place because he might blend in nicely with the Blues. Leboeuf said in an interview with ESPN (h/t Metro.UK), that he would be pleased if Zidane were to manage Chelsea going forward, as he said:
“I don’t know, but it would be a very good idea, I think. I would be very pleased. I’ve never asked him if he wanted to go to England. I asked him if he didn’t speak English, but he responded in English. So, you know, he speaks English a little bit.
“Maybe he could be in charge of Chelsea. I would be very, very happy about that.”
