As the entire Bollywood industry goes into a state of shock and mourning due to the sudden demise of Irrfan Khan and now the veteran legend Rishi Kapoor, Hollywood stars are remembering the time they worked with them.Recently Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman expressed their grief and extended their love to Khan’s family.
Jolie, who worked with Khan in Michael Winterbottom’s A Mighty Heart – the film in which Adnan Siddiqui also worked along with Khan in – said she had been privileged to work with him in the 2007 film.She told the BBC, “He stood out for his generosity as an artist, which made it a pleasure to work in any scene with him.”Adding that, “I remember the intensity of his commitment, and equally his smile.
I send my condolences and my sympathy to his family, his friends, and all admirers of his work, in India and around the world.”In A Mighty Heart, Jolie played the role of Mariane Pearl, wife of journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and beheaded by terrorists. The film is based on Mariane’s memoir of the same name. Khan played the role of Karachi police chief Zeeshan Kazmi.
Whereas Portman took to Instagram and shared a photo of herself and Khan from Mira Nair’s segment of New York, I Love You. She wrote, “Sending love to Irrfan Khan’s loved ones today.”In the photo, Natalie is dressed as a bride in a white gown, while Khan can be seen smiling standing right next to her dressed as an orthodox Jewish man.
Khan died of complications due to colon infection at 11.11 am on April 29 at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He was buried in Versova Kabristanm, in Mumbai in the presence of 20 people including wife and sons at 3pm, according to India Today.He is survived by his wife, Sutapa Sikdar, and two sons, Babil and Ayan.Have something to add to the story?
