Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment in the Ant-Man franchise, has just been released in theaters, but talk of a potential fourth film for the Marvel hero has already begun. Despite negative reviews of the latest Ant-Man installment, director Peyton Reed teased the potential story of Ant-Man 4 in a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment UK.
In this upcoming fourth installment, we might see more of the Scott-Cassie relationship and family dynamics that have been integral to the Ant-Man franchise. Director Peyton Reed has teased the potential of a smaller-scale story that explores the “street-level” quality of the first two movies.

The director’s intention for the fourth movie is to return to the franchise’s roots, emphasizing the characters and their relationships rather than just big action sequences. Reed hinted that characters would be “ping-ponging back and forth.”
“I think one of the things [you’d want] is ping-ponging back and forth [to and from the Quantum Realm]. It was really fun to create the Quantum Realm and all these sorts of characters.”

Reed adds that he thinks “there’s more story to tell” without losing “sight” of some important dynamics.
“I think there’s more story to tell down there as well… But I also think that you can’t lose sight of those family dynamics and the idea of this ‘street-level’ quality of Ant-Man, of the Wasp, in the first couple of movies.”

So not only will we get to explore the Quantum Realm even further, but we’ll also get more of the Scott-Cassie relationship and family dynamics, which have been integral to the Ant-Man franchise. Regarding family dynamics, Reed expressed his desire to see Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang becoming a big part of the MCU in the future.

We’ve seen Cassie grow up throughout the Ant-Man films, and with Newton’s impressive acting chops, it would be a shame not to have her play a more significant role in the MCU. Reed isn’t the only one who thinks Ant-Man 4 should have a smaller scale.

“Ant-Man, the original, is still my favourite. I think I would [dial Ant-Man 4 down] if I was the director, or the writer, or Kevin Feige.”
