Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that the Chelsea owners still plan to stick by Graham Potter.
This is despite yet another defeat yesterday, this time to close rivals Tottenham.
The Blues were beaten 2-0 by Spurs, picking up their first defeat at the club’s new stadium since it opened.
A lot of the losses in recent months have been painful for Chelsea fans, however falling way short of the standards required to win this fierce derby is surely too much for a supporter to handle.
The calls for the manager to be sacked did not disappear either. After it became heard and seen at Stamford Bridge last week, things have simply gotten no better.
However, Romano has claimed Todd Boehly is keen to stick to his guns with the former Brighton man, giving him time to turn things around.
Potter still set to stay at Chelsea
He said: “Internally at Chelsea, they feel the same; Graham Potter deserves time, which is why they are protecting him. This is still the same message after the game today.
“It’s time to support the manager, but the situation is getting intense.”
The owners may point to a lack of potential available replacements currently available too as a reason to keep the faith with Potter.
They obviously won’t hire back Thomas Tuchel, and looking around there are not many choices for the role that will be up to the required standard.
Mauricio Pochettino is a name who could be considered, with there already being reported contact from the Blues. Outside of him, they would likely need to tempt someone to leave their current job.
Jose Mourinho is extremely popular with Chelsea fans, and has recently claimed he would love a managerial return to Stamford Bridge.
However, it seems we’re sticking with Potter for now.
