After a nearly 5-year hiatus, the iconic GranTurismo returns to remind the car industry of the power behind the Maserati Trident. In an era of electrification, it is refreshing to see that the GranTurismo is returning to traditional power plants (though an EV version arrives in mid-2024.) The sleek coupe is completely new from the ground up and features engine choices you can find in the MC-20 super car. Maserati also steps up the cabin with an interior that can compete with competition from Aston Martin and Porsche. With production beginning in Q2 of 2023, the GranTurismo will provide world-class driving experiences shortly.

The Maserati Gran Turismo Gets Formula 1 MC-20 EnginesVia: Maserati
Underneath the hood, an exotic engine backs up the enigmatic exterior. Consumers can also find Maserati’s new Nettuno V6 in the MC-20. This high-revving engine originates from the Formula 11 scene, with unique design characteristics that make it special in a production car. The pre-combustion system features unique chambers with dual lateral sparkplugs. In true supercar spirit, it also features a dry sump. There is no offset when it comes to crankpins, meaning the GranTurismo sports a unique snarling sound as it lopes. The base Modena produces 483 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. With some modest retuning, the flagship Trofeo brings power up to 542 horsepower while utilizing the same engine. Both variants utilize a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic that sends power to all four wheels.
The Grand Turismo Provides Grand Touring Pleasure With A Top Speed Of 200 MPH3 Images
The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo isn’t just a grand tourer in name only. Pacesetting performance and handling back up its intimidating exhaust note. The base Modena reaches 60 in 3.9 seconds with a top speed eclipsing 180 mph. For enthusiasts looking for even more performance, the Trofeo reaches 60 in under 3.5 seconds and does an 11.4 second 1/4 mile at 124 mph, with a top-speed surpassing 200 mph. The GranTurismo is also lightweight, with a body that is 65% aluminum. The GranTurismo also boasts a 50/50 weight distribution for near-perfect balance. Drivers can adjust the standard electronic air springs for precise and variable handling in every setting. According to Maserati, GranTurismo’s engineering process focused on requests by previous customers in an effort to create one of the best-driving Maseratis of all time.
Stepping Up On Interior Quality And Technology For The Maserati Gran TurismoVia: Maserati
A common Maserati critique, at least in the last decade, is that they often spend too much time under the hood rather than bringing that premium appeal inside as well. The GranTurismo steps up the interior and will remind long-term fans of Maseratis of yore. As soon as the driver steps over the aluminum sill plate, they will immediately notice this is miles above what consumers may find in a Ghibli or Levante. Consumers can choose between 13 shades of leather that drapes over the entirety of the cabin. The power seats feature heating and ventilation with unique perforation patterns that immediately draw the eye. Maserati fans will recognize the steering wheel as a variation of the one in the MC-20. The three-spoke design features media and cluster controls. The wheel also features a dial drive mode selector and the engine start/stop button. Directly behind the wheel is a 12.2-inch gauge cluster. The center stack begins with a traditional round Maserati clock up top, now digital and configurable.
Along with the Grecale this debuts Maserati’s new in-house 12.3-inch infotainment system. The system is light years above the former uConnect system with wireless smartphone integration. A smaller screen just below handles climate control adjustments. Thanks to the full steering wheel, the center console is clutter-free, allowing occupants to admire the genuine wood or carbon fiber trim.
Via: MaseratiUnlike many exotic grand tourers, the GranTurismo features a usable rear seat. As far as coupes go, it features decent legroom for the two buckets, and due to the unique roof shape, headroom is adequate for average-sized adults. Even if they do brush up against the C-pillar, soft Alcantara is a welcome headliner material. A center console with two cupholders is standard, as well as a rear climate control panel. Technology on the GranTurismo is also ahead of other Maserati products. This is the first Maserati with available level two autonomy. The full package includes stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, active driving assist, drowsy driver detection, and active lane management.
The Maserati Gran Turismo Has Supercar PricingVia: Maserati
The Maserati brand carries a lot of weight on the car scene, and pricing is historically higher than German rivals. The all-new GranTurismo is no exception and even greatly eclipses its predecessor. The base Modena starts at $174,000, while the Trofeo begins at $205,000. Notable options include the $4,000 Sonus Faber surround sound system, the $8,300 ADAS package that allows for level two autonomy, and the $2,300 tech assistance package, which includes a head-up display. Upgrade to premium three-layer paint in multiple exotic colors for an additional $4,500. Overall, the GranTurismo is an incredible addition to the Maserati family and is sure to inspire old and new enthusiasts alike.
