Sabitzer and Weghorst joined United on loan in January from Bayern Munich and Burnley respectively.
Weghorst has started every game since arriving at Old Trafford, and has one goal and three assists to his name in 13 appearances.
Sabitzer, meanwhile, featured in midfield during the absence of Casemiro due to suspension. He also started Wednesday’s 3-1 FA Cup win over West Ham.
United have already been told how much they need to pay to buy the Austrian midfielder on a permanent deal in the summer, with Christian Falk, of German outlet Bild, claiming that Bayern want €20 million to allow him to leave.
Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, meanwhile, has stated (via Lancs Live) that the Clarets will hold talks over Weghorst’s future at Turf Moor if they get promoted to the Premier League. They are currently 19 points ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough with 12 games to play.
Now, Ten Hag has admitted his feelings at this stage on whether both players could remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season.
Ten Hag makes Weghorst, Sabitzer Man Utd admission
Speaking after United’s FA Cup fifth round win over the Hammers on Wednesday, the Dutchman said he believes it is too early to discuss whether Sabitzer and Weghorst will seal permanent stays at the club.
He explained (quotes via Manchester Evening News): “I think it’s much too quick, much too soon to talk about that.
“First, we are in this season. That is where the only focus has to be. No distractions for what is coming next season.
“No, we are in this season and we are in the right position in this moment. This is the position we want to be because we are competing in three competitions.”
Sabitzer and Weghorst could have a major role to play for United as they look to win another three trophies this season, following Sunday’s Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle at Wembley.
But, for now, any talk of a permanent stay at Old Trafford looks as if it will have to wait.
