LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: PETA has requested Rihanna to make some changes to her wardrobe and stop wearing fur. The organization sent the 35-year-old ‘Work’ singer a letter with an offer they hope she cannot refuse. Interestingly, she had received an award from the organization in the past for her clothing brand FENTY’s faux-leather capsule collection.

Rihanna, who is expecting her second child with her partner A$AP Rocky, was urged by the organization to steer away from wearing real fur coats. They sent her a letter and a faux fur coat from Unreal Fur hoping she would change.

‘Create a kinder world’
In a letter obtained by TMZ, PETA’s senior vice-president told Rihanna, “As a mother, you know what it’s like to feel protective and to want to make sure no harm comes to your family. Please understand that this desire – this instinct even – is shared by the minks, foxes and rabbits who are torn away from their families and killed for their fur.” PETA then asks, “Won’t you please help create a kinder world for your children to grow up in by deciding today that you’ll no longer wear fur?”

The organization pointed out that it was illegal now to sell fur in California and luxury fashion houses, including Chanel, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Valentino, have banned it. They encouraged Rihanna, who has worn many furs during her career, to “help create a kinder world for your children to grow up in by deciding today that you’ll no longer wear fur.” “You have so much,” PETA wrote, adding, “Won’t you please spare the animals who ask for nothing more but to be left alone to live with their loved ones, free from electrocutions, gassings and beatings that are the standard in the fur industry, and donate your furs to a good cause?”

The note ended with, “We’re also sending along a beautiful faux fur coat from Unreal Fur to help you stay warm and fashionable while making the cruelty-free switch.” The Australian company also creates faux cashmere, vegan leather coats and jackets in addition to faux fur items. Every item costs $519 or less.
