Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Ultimate 2022. Chery has added a new top-of-the-line Ultimate package to the Tiggo 8 Pro crossover in Russia.
It is now available to Russians in two levels of equipment, the most expensive of which features an expanded set of assistive electronics.
The car market has literally changed beyond recognition in recent years.
The prices have skyrocketed and even if a «Chinaman» for a million rubles used to cause a chuckle at best, now the price of the Tiggo 8 Pro from more than 2 million is not surprising. But why all the money?
The Tiggo 8 Pro is designed by an international team led by Steve Hume, who has work experience at General Motors, Ford, Hyundai and Buick.
Somebody will think that the radiator grille is a bit hypertrophied, and somebody will say that such a big grille in modern 3D-matrix style, which creates the visual effect of glow due to the play of light and shadow, only adds to the respectability of the car.
There will be skeptics, who will see in the stylistics an inordinate inspiration of Infiniti models. The optics are fully LED — another sure sign that the model is not aimed at the budget segment.
The running gear and power-engineering are in quite European trend. The engine is the «turbo four» 1,6 TGDI, producing 186 hp. — It belongs to the third generation of ACTECO engines.
The unit is developed together with the Austrian company AVL, is equipped with a gas distribution system with two camshafts and sixteen valves, as well as dual variable valve timing system (DVVT) manufactured by BorgWarner, direct injection and a Honeywell turbine.
It is very important that 275 Nm of torque is produced in the range from 2000 to 4000 rpm.
Working in tandem with a seven-speed Getrag robot, the engine can accelerate to 100 km / h is not the lightest (GVW 2140 kg) car for 8.9 seconds — at least that is the figure indicated in the official table of specifications.
However, the base complete set is equipped with a 2-liter «turbo four» of a little bit smaller capacity (170 hp) paired with a CVT9 variator.
This version is a little bit slower, and in this case acceleration up to a hundred will make 10 seconds — also, in fact, quite decent.
The mentioned above robot is the successor of Ford 6DCT250 (aka PowerShift, aka DPS6), which left not the best memory.
It is clear that the progress does not stand still and that Getrag engineers did a great job on getting rid of such childish illnesses, as delays at sudden pressing the gas pedal and jerks when driving in traffic jams, but, as they say, the spoons, maybe, were found, but the sore point remained.
The configuration is quite rich: in base there are already covered with eco leather seats, qualitative soft plastic of panels, plentiful of electric drives (including the drive of opening of a trunk door), multicool and a winter package (with heated windows, steering wheel, washer jets and seats of two rows).
But there is also a package Speedline, which appears not only 186-horsepower motor and pre-selective robot, but also two touchscreen displays with a diagonal of 12.3 inches (one of them serves as a dashboard), multicolor ambient interior lighting and wireless charging for smartphones.
Further — more: the Dreamline package implies the appearance of another 8-inch touchscreen, responsible for the climate system, a huge panoramic sunroof and blind spot monitoring system.
The cherry on this cake should become the Ultimate package. In fact, it is the same Dreamline, supplemented with a package of safety assistants and active roadside assistance.
The package includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Aid (LKA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA/ICA), Front Collision Warning System (FCW), autonomous emergency braking system (AEB), traffic sign recognition (SLA), door opening hazard warning (DOW), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and automatic low/high beam shift (IHC).
Sales of the Tiggo 8 Pro Ultimate are scheduled to be announced in December, but as usual, journalists were able to get acquainted with the novelty ahead of time.
Well, the interior makes the most pleasant impression! Very high quality soft plastic, panels in silver «old wood» style, colored stripes of illumination, supple brown eco leather with perforation and elegant stitching, seats with electric drive and memory — in a word, everything is like in the best houses.
Everything is very light and airy — the roof is glass! I liked the steering wheel — tenacious, covered with non-slip nappa leather, with not too big finger pads and a comfortable section.
I managed to get settled behind a steering wheel at once and without any problems.
But my colleagues of 190 cm height had a bit worse situation: they really wanted to put down the driver’s seat a centimeter or two more, but the range of movement in this direction was already completely chosen.
