And Guardiola reckons it is only a matter of time before his former charge is sitting in his spot in the managerial dugout at the Etihad.
The Catalan said: “The consistency they are showing is unbelievable.
“They are close to being promoted; I am delighted to see his success.
“He will be back sooner or later. His destiny to be Man City boss is written in the stars.
“It is going to happen; I don’t know when but it is going to happen.
“We have a chance to reach Wembley, we will compete against Vinny and his team.”

It might be easy to write off Burnley but Kompany has had a transformative effect at the club, overhauling the philosophy under Sean Dyche and implementing a more progressive style of play.
As a result, the Clarets are steamrolling the Championship and are 12 points clear at the top of the table with promotion all but confirmed, leading third-placed Middlesbrough by 19 points.
Whatever happens when City play Burnley later this month, Kompany is expected to receive a very warm welcome from the fans at the Etihad.
Kompany is a City legend having made 360 appearances for them across 11 years, winning four Premier League titles, four League Cups and two FA Cups as captain.

During his time at the Etihad, Guardiola coached him for three years and they forged a close relationship but they will next meet as rivals.
The City boss recently signed a contract extension at the club, keeping him in Manchester until 2025 having joined in 2016.
This is already the longest time Guardiola has spent in one job having coached Barcelona for four years and Bayern Munich for three.
