Hosting the Oscars is a glorious opportunity that a few lucky ones get. All the famous personalities of Hollywood are gathered under the same roof on that special night. It is certainly quite an honor to entertain the who’s who of the industry.
However, the infamous slap gate that marred the event last night, has taken the shine off anchoring the event. It is hard to ascertain what may be deemed offensive by any celebrity during the event. And this year’s host has revealed his plans if any untoward incident occurs. And specifically, if it involves Dwayne Johnson.
The 95th Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. He is a well-known TV name, owing to his successful talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! He recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. Kimmel was particularly asked what he intended to do if an unfortunate slap occurs.
He replied, “You mean if somebody comes up on the stage and slaps me? Well, I size them up, and, if I’m bigger than they are, I beat the sh*t out of them on television. And if it’s the Rock, I run”.
Kimmel meant it as a joke but it was not far from the truth. Who will dare to mess with Johnson owing to his massive frame? It would be a wise decision to back off from any tussle with the WWE legend. Although, his humbleness means it is highly unlikely that there is a repeat of last year’s incident.
The infamous slap gate surprised the world
The 2022 Oscars event is sadly known for the infamous moment between actor Will Smith and comedian, Chris Rock. The actor in a fit of anger stormed to the stage and slapped Rock, sending those watching into a frenzy. The comedian who served as the host last year had made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The incident garnered a lot of global attention.

The Men in Black actor drew flak from almost everyone for his inexplicable actions. Smith was barred from attending the award in the future.
It will be the third time that Kimmel will be donning the host’s hat for the event. He has previously overseen the duties in 2017 and 2018. The TV show presenter will be backed by a crisis team this year. It was formed to avoid any repeat of last year’s horrendous incident.
And this step has been deemed too extreme by many famous personalities including tennis legend Serena Williams’ father.
The surprise element in the slap gate caught everybody off-guard. And Jimmy Kimmel has already come up with an idea to protect himself. However, as admitted by him, it would not protect him against the likes of Dwayne Johnson. And Kimmel has the perfect solution for it as well, which involves running for his life.
