Fans of Naruto and Boruto declare the next-gen series the greatest manga all of time after spoilers surface for its upcoming chapter.
Naruto fans are finally becoming Boruto fans after the recent leak of the new-gen manga’s latest chapter.
The hype for Boruto Chapter 79 has taken the Naruto fanbase and the larger otaku community by storm, as fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts after scans of the chapter leaked online. According to some readers, the chapter is so good that it cements Boruto as one of the greatest manga of all time, with others claiming the series is now better than the likes of My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and even One Piece. The One Piece comparison has been a particularly popular one, as several fans have claimed that Boruto creator Masashi Kishimoto’s writing in Chapter 79 is better than that of One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda through the entirety of his 1000+ chapters.
While there may be a certain amount of hyperbole in these tweets, Boruto’s has experienced a rise in popularity and changed the opinions of staunch Naruto fans. While readers of Kishimoto’s original series slammed Boruto for much of its early run, it seems many have been warming up to the spinoff series. In fact, its support has grown to such a degree that a clip of Naruto on the toilet during a recent episode of Boruto surpassed Luffy’s hated battle with Kaido in One Piece in YouTube views by a margin of nearly five million.
Boruto Still Has a Way To Go To Catch Up to Naruto
Although the consensus is that Boruto is improving, there are still issues holding the series back from reaching the heights of its predecessor. A major issue fans have pointed out is the erratic animation quality of Studio Pierrot’s adaptation, which has flip-flopped from staggeringly impressive to outright laughable over the course of its run. The anime is reportedly going on indefinite hiatus this summer, which may give its studio the time needed to address some of the quality concerns raised by fans. The break also may be informed by Pierrot’s announcement of four brand new Naruto episodes set during the anime’s original run, which will air sometime in September 2023.
While the Boruto anime takes a hiatus, fans can keep up with the manga, starting with the much-hyped Chapter 79. The latest installment is set to release on March 19, 2023, and will be available in English from VIZ Media.
