The pair looked deep in conversation at the theatre’s coffee shop while surrounded by empty tables.
They were joined by Angelina’s daughter Shiloh, 16, for the outing, who she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, 59.
Paul – who is rumoured to have split from singer Phoebe Bridgers soon after reports of their engagement – wore a red T-shirt, while Angelina sported a stylish black trench coat and Shiloh wore a jacket and a beige beanie hat.
Paul stars as Stanley Kowalski to Lydia Wilson’s Blanche in the Almeida Theatre’s red hot revival of the Tennessee Williams classic.
The actor is reportedly single after Phoebe was seen looking cosy with Bo Burnham in New York.
While a recent photo from a 1975 concert showed Matty Healy kissing Phoebe while Bo watched on – and Paul was nowhere to be seen.
Phoebe and Paul started dating in 2020 and made their relationship official on Instagram in December 2021.
In a chat with GQ Magazine, Mescal shared a little insight into their romance after they first connected online in lockdown.
Paul said: “To have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable. Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
According to Today: “In May (2022), they attended the Met Gala together and Mescal was photographed wearing a ring on his left hand, a possible hint that the two had taken the next step in their relationship.”
Last year, Phoebe is said to have been called Paul her fiancé as they mingled with fellow guests in California.
Paul was seen hanging out with his Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones at the festival – sporting an impressive moustache, while Phoebe was there to perform.
She told NME magazine she “got a little pitter-patter in my heart” when she realised he was following her on Instagram.
They later walked the red carpet together at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Film Gala in November 2021, before going Instagram official the following month.
And in February of this year she shared another loved-up picture of them to mark Valentine’s Day.
But Phoebe joined Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date last month as she opened up about heartbreak.
She said: “You just have to do it, and it’s going to end at some point, but you can’t make it end. That’s my thing.”
The host asked the songstress what heartbreak has taught her, she joked: “I think if I had figured that out, I wouldn’t be making music still.”
