One group of babies in Southern California already has built-in best friends. A total of nine firefighter fathers who work for the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District all had babies within four months of each other—a total of seven girls and two boys.
“Say hello to Rancho Cucamonga Fire’s newest little family members! Between March and July of this year, nine babies were born in the department and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture this special moment,” the fire department wrote on Facebook. “We are thrilled to see our RCFD fire family keep growing!”
As you can imagine, finding out so many people in the department were having babies was mindboggling. And no—it wasn’t planned this way. It was completely by coincidence that each of the member’s wives got pregnant when they did!
“I remember when we found out there was, like, six, and then it was like, oh no, wait there’s seven, no there’s eight, then when we found out about the ninth, we were just like, ‘I can’t believe it,’” said one member.
Not only will all of these families always have an opportunity for playdates for their own baby, but there’s nothing like having fathers who have that protective nature and will always be there for their babies!
In fact, they wanted to commemorate the occasion with a firefighter-themed photoshoot so that they could always remember this time.
The babies were photographed each in their own adorable firefighter onesie. In one of the shots, all of the babies laid on their dads’ fire jackets in a circle. It literally couldn’t be cuter!

In addition, all of the wives are close with each other and are thrilled to have babies so close in age. Not only do the babies have people to grow up with, but the moms share a camaraderie in both mom life, as well as firefighter wife life.
“It’s brought everyone closer together, not just the nine firefighters, but also the wives,” said Gabrielle Costello, who posted the pictures that went viral. “We share tips and sleep schedules and all that kind of new mom stuff.”
“Our husbands work 24-hour shifts. During fire season they are gone for weeks on end,” she added. “It’s nice to have friends that understand the firefighter lifestyle.”
