Jack Grealish has shared some unusual snaps of him undergoing ‘hot cupping’ ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool – leaving fans wincing.
Grealish shared a series of snaps that showed the £100million man with a number of cups on his back, before sharing the red marks left by the treatment. Cupping involves sucking up the muscles and deep tissue in a vacuum to mobilise the tissue.
Cupping is also believed to increase blood circulation and detoxification and help with stress and back pain. More and more athletes are now using it as a method of recovery – and Grealish is the latest to give it a try.
Cupping first caught the attention of athletes when legendary Olympian Michael Phelps was spotted with circles on his back.
“I’ve done cupping for a while before meets,” Phelps said when quizzed about the strange bruises. “But I haven’t had a bruise like this for a while. I asked for a little help yesterday because I was a little sore and I was training hard.”
