Katie Holmes revealed how she maintains her energy and stays fit to keep up with being a mom.
Katie Holmes has been dedicated to her morning routine for years, and it seems to be working for her.
The ‘Batman Begins’ star tries to set a positive example for her teenage daughter, Suri, by keeping a regular routine and making time for her hobbies and interests.
How does Katie Holmes start her day?
Holmes told the Wall Street Journal that she has a strict morning routine that she sticks to every day. It’s nothin fancy — but it is consistent.
“Usually I get up around eight,” the 44-year-old actress said. “I need lots of coffee in the morning and throughout the day.”
In order for Holmes to competently take on her day, which usually involves acting, directing, caring for her daughter, Suri, or her many hobbies, there are a few crucial things she needs to do.
“I try to write out three or four pages, just to get out my thoughts and ready myself for the day,” Holmes shared.
Does Katie Holmes eat breakfast?
Holmes, who has graduated from her acting career to director with films such as ‘Rare Objects’, says that she does not eat early in the day and that breakfast is not really her thing.
“I’m not a breakfast person and never have been,” Holmes added.
Holmes prefers to break her fast in the middle of the day and really enjoys lunchtime.
“I love a good lunch,” Holmes explained. “I’m more of a kale salad person.”
Katie Holmes’ hobbies
Throughout the week, though she has many responsibilities, Katie Holmes makes a concerted effort to carve out time for herself to develop her hobbies, talents, and interests.
“I try to start the week with something creative for myself, like a dance class or maybe I’ll paint for a little bit,” the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star continued. “I’ve been painting for most of my adult life. I find it to be very soothing in between projects, and there’s such a value in using your hands.”
On Suri growing up
Katie Holmes’ 16-year-old daughter Suri, whose father is Tom Cruise, is a high priority for Katie Holmes. She tries to instill important values into her upbringing so that she will grow up into a confident and capable young woman.
“My biggest goal has always been to nurture [Suri] into her individuality,” Holmes said. “To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able.”
“And to know it,” she added. “She came out very strong – she’s always been a strong personality. She’ll pick an activity and work her butt off until she’s really good at it.”
“Then she’s like, ‘Okay, I’m going to try the next thing.’ She’s very focused and a hard worker.”
