Chelsea star Mason Mount has made an announcement on social media that he plans to delete his Twitter account. The attacking midfielder’s future at his boyhood club is significantly up in the air with his contract set to expire in 2024 with no clear indication of a renewal being agreed upon.
Amid the real possibility of him leaving the Blues this summer, Mount took to Twitter to explain his decision with a message to supporters.
He wrote: “Over the years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you all on Twitter. Sadly, the platform is changing so I have decided to delete my account. You all can still connect with me on my other social media platforms here: http://masonmount.Komi.io Take care, Mason.”
A number of clubs, aware a summer exit is possible, have shown an interest in Mount with Liverpool even outlining him as their top target, football.london understands. The 2022/23 campaign has been a disappointing one for Chelsea and Mount, with the latter struggling for consistent minutes.
In recent months, Mount has also been struggling with an abdominal injury which he only recovered from recently. The 24-year-old played just under 30 minutes across both legs of Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid.
