K-pop fans are a force to be reckoned with, especially if they feel their idols are being attacked.
Recently, for instance, BLINKs and netizens called out vlogger Claudine Co after she was said to have “sexualized” BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, after talking about one of the idol’s body parts.
In one of her vlogs, Claudine is in the car with her boyfriend talking about their experience catching the Manila leg of BLACKPINK’s Born Pink world tour. The following conversation (now-deleted clip from the vlog) has been making the rounds on Twitter:
Claudine: “So siya din nag-enjoy sa singit ni Jennie. Medyo na-zoom in niya naman nang onti. Na-zoom in mo naman, ‘di ba?”
Claudine’s boyfriend: “Kakainis.”
Claudine: “Na-zoom in niya naman yung singit ni Jennie so okay na siya.”
Fans were quick to call out the content creator and reacted to screenshots of the deleted clip.
“Sometimes, cancel culture is actually okay,” remarked one netizen. “Claudine Co, you never learn. Despite editing that one out, it’ll never undo the sexual harassment you said towards Jennie.”
Another netizen wrote, “Time to de-platform influencers na wala namang positive influence sa mundo.”
Claudine issued an apology on Instagram Stories and Facebook, saying, “I would like to sincerely apologize to those I have offended, especially the blinks. I have not thought about what I said and posted in the video. Please know that I am in no way supporting sexual harassment.”
Claudine’s vlog remains up on her channel. She has deactivated the comments function.
