Loving couple Kimberley and John Alarcon, 37 and 43, said they had always wanted to be parents, but never imagined they would one day be a family of 12.
A woman from the US has just celebrated becoming a proud mum-of-ten after ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ʙɪʀᴛʜ to her third set of twins. Kimberley and John Alarcon, 37 and 43, say they had always wanted children of their own but had no idea they’d one day be raising a family of 10 little ones. On April 25, the already large Alarcon family welcomed another two members to the fold, following the safe arrival of baby girls Kenzy and Kenzley via C-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ. The little girls are said to be getting plenty of adoration from their doting older siblings, Brittney, 17, Sarah, 13, Hunter, 10, twins Zoey and Zachary, six, twins Olivia and Oliver, four, and King, three.
She said: “That she can now relate to how her mom must have felt about the happy ᴄʜᴀᴏs in their home when she was growing up. My dad ᴅɪᴇᴅ when I was 12, so it fell on my mom to finish raising us all. Her mother worked as a teacher at a day-care center to pay the bills. We just all squeezed in together and every room was filled, there was a lot of love in our house. When she and John started their own family, Alarcon said she knew there was a chance she could have twins because one of her aunts had ᴛʀɪᴘʟᴇᴛs and two sets of twins. So the possibility was always there, but I really didn’t think much about it. Then with the fourth ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ, the twins started coming.”
Beautician Kimberley, from Wallkill, Nᴇᴡ Yᴏʀᴋ, says that both she and her detective husband were left in ‘ᴛᴏᴛᴀʟ ᴀᴡᴇ’ the first time they learned they were expecting twins. They never could have guessed that they would end up welcoming two more sets of twins in the span of just a few short years. I was in ᴛᴏᴛᴀʟ ᴀᴡᴇ every single time that I was told I was having twins. Every ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ after that, it was a bit of a gamble if it was going to be twins again. But I am truly grateful. I was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ when I found out I was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ again because we didn’t plan on more, we were content and passed our budget. But we are so blessed and happy with our big family.
Kimberley said it always takes time for her brood to adjust to new babies, especially when there are two at the same time, but added she feels lucky and ‘blessed’ to have such a loving family. She also hasn’t ruled out the possibility for another set of twins in the future but says she is content with being a mum-of-10. When Kimberly and John Alarcon welcomed their third set of fraternal twins about two weeks ago, they said that along with the joy, they reaᴅɪᴇᴅ themselves for the inevitable comments about their large family with 10 kids. At the hospital, they call me the frequent flier, said Kimberly Knott Alarcon, 37, who works as a hairstylist in Wᴀʟʟᴋɪʟʟ, N.Y. in the Hᴜᴅsᴏɴ Valley. I come in every three years, so I guess you could say I’m on a first-name basis with the ᴍᴀᴛᴇʀɴɪᴛʏ and ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀʏ ɴᴜʀsᴇs.
For Alarcon, family means a full house filled with loved ones. The perfect Mother’s Day present is to know they all love each other and are the best of friends most days. Life isn’t perfect, but we’ve learned to take a deep breath and have fun. It’s something she said she learned from her mother, Edith Knott, who raised eight nieces and nephews in addition to Alarcon and her nine siblings.
