As one of this year’s official Met Gala co-hosts, Dua Lipa will have all eyes on her once she hits the star-studded red carpet. (Her co-hosts include Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Anna Wintour.) While we’ll have to wait until May 1st to see what exactly the singer wears for the occasion, we’re looking back on what has defined the superstar’s signature style over the years.
A trip down fashion memory lane reveals that Lipa has always been a true fashion girl. Since she first burst onto the music scene with her self-titled LP in 2017, Lipa has navigated the step and repeats with confidence and a unique eye. Of course, much of Lipa’s fashion wins on the carpet have been the result of her ongoing collaboration with stylist Lorenzo Posocco; Together, they’ve embraced fresh, modern silhouettes that always stray from the norm.
At the 2019 AMAs, for instance, she opted for a satiny pink Miu Miu gown with an oversized black bow at the waist. At the 2021 Grammys, she went more sleek and channeled Cher in a sheer, pink Versace bodycon gown that was covered in dazzling stylists. Just when you think you’ve got her style figured out, Lipa pulls a 180 once again. At the 2021 Brit Awards, she wore a custom Vivienne Westwood corset dress, complete with an extra-long train and dramatic bouffant.
As for Lipa’s Met Gala hits? She’s only attended the event once, back in 2019 for the “Camp” theme. The star was dressed by Versace in a psychedelic-print gown complete with a giant waist bow. It certainly made for a bold Met Gala debut—and here’s to hoping she’ll continue this risk-taking energy come May 1st.
