Recently, the official website of Manchester United announced that Alejandro Garnacho has signed a new contract with the club, which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Garnacho joined MU’s youth training academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He won the FA Youth Cup and MU’s Best Young Player of the Year award in May 2022. In the same month, he also made his first-team debut at the age of 17.

This season, Garnacho has played 29 times in all competitions for Manchester United’s first team, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists. These impressive statistics have led the Red Devils’ management to offer him a new long-term contract.

Garnacho’s previous contract was due to expire in the summer of 2024, with an option to extend for an additional year. However, with his progress, Manchester United had to quickly tie him down for another 5 years.

According to The Telegraph, the 18-year-old player will receive a significant pay rise. Before signing the new contract, Garnacho was receiving a weekly wage of £5,000. This figure could now rise to £50,000 per week. This is also a salary that no teenage player at Old Trafford has ever received when promoted to the first team.

After signing the new contract, Garnacho said: “When I joined MU, I dreamed of making my debut, playing at Old Trafford, scoring my first goal, and winning prestigious titles. I am proud to have experienced those moments. I am developing every day to help the team be more successful.”

John Murtough, Manchester United’s Football Director, said: “Alejandro has truly dedicated himself to achieving the goals that the club has set for him since he arrived in Manchester.”
