Scarlett Johansson proved herself to be as beautiful as ever upon her arrival to the premiere of Under The Skin in a curve-enhancing off-the-shoulder black gown.
The movie star certainly had everyone’s attention Tuesday night at the 70th Annual Venice International Film Festival.
There, the 28-year old brought vintage Hollywood glamour to the thoroughly modern cinematic event of her latest sci-fi drama.
Understated: The actress kept her hairdo simple to let her floor-length gown do all the fashionable work
Wearing muted make-up, Scarlett looked refreshed and not overly done up for the special occasion, although she did draw attention to her decolletage, thanks to a coloured diamond necklace that brought out the green colour of her eyes.
And despite the revealing nature of her dress, the actress couldn’t hide the giant diamond ring sitting on her engagement finger.
The superstar has continually denied any reports that she is engaged to boyfriend Romain Dauriac, and in July her publicist told People magazine that the star ‘is not engaged nor close to being engaged’ after she was spotted wearing the ring while out and about.
However, her French partner left her to face the cameras on the night at the Palazzo del Cinema, where director Jonathan Glazer happily chaperoned Scarlett towards the main theatre.
Under The Skin marks Glazer’s third feature, after directing Nicole Kidman in 2005’s Birth and five years earlier Ben Kingsley, in his Oscar-nominated performance in Sexy Beast.
HIs latest cinematic offering follows an alien (Johansson) who comes to Earth and begins a journey across Scotland.
Described as a vampiric space alien, the character’s story is taken from a 2001 novel by Michel Faber, and was greeted early at Venice by a mixture of both cheers and boos.
This is the second independent movie for Scarlett Johansson this year, following her turn as Janet Leigh in silver scree biopic Hitchcock.

She also plays the female lead in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s feature debut Don Jon, a black comedy about a New Jersey guy’s obsession with porn, getting in the way of himself finding true love.
Also in attendance was British model Jodie Kidd, who looked elegant in a black and gold one-shoulder gown and matching sandals.
She smouldered on the red carpet through smokey eyes that enmphasised to green colour of her iris.
