Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has been pictured in Manchester United training gear for the first time since his injury.
Varane shared an image on Instagram alongside his former Lens coach László Bölöni, who had paid a visit to Manchester.
Varane was wearing his Manchester United training gear, which we can read into a little, that he is hard at work at Carrington to return to action as quickly as possible.
The centre-back has been out of action since Manchester United’s home leg draw against Sevilla in early April.
What Erik ten Hag said about Raphael Varane
There is good reason to be optimistic about Raphael Varane returning soon, as manager Erik ten Hag has already outlined that he is making good progress.
Speaking to club media last week, Ten Hag said of Varane and Scott McTominay: “The prognosis, I think Rapha is closer than in this moment.”
He added that neither player were going to be in contention to face Brighton or West Ham, so it proved, but did not rule out the upcoming Wolves game.
More will become clearer as the week progresses, and no images of Monday or Tuesday’s training session have yet been released by the club.
At a guess, I wouldn’t expect Varane to start this weekend against Wolves, why take the risk, but there is a chance he could make the matchday squad.
Manchester United’s end game with Varane is to get him fit for the FA Cup final on June 3.
Erik ten Hag won’t take any risks with his fitness, and is more likely to phase in his return to action.
