Garret and Jessica Gee, the parents to Dorothy, Manilla, and Calihan, decided to sell everything and travel the world with their young children in 2015. They started an Instagram and a YouTube channel called The Bucket List Family that documents their travels.
On Monday, 25 November, the adventurous family posted their latest video which shows a trip they took to Mexico to do some shark cage diving.
The family — Manilla, Dorothy, dad Garrett, mom Jessica, and younger brother Calihan — travels the world full-time, seeking adventure and ticking off their bucket list. While visiting Baja California, in western Mexico, they decided to dive with great white sharks.
“I was a little bit scared,” Dorothy said after the dive. “But then I was brave.”
What makes the trip unusual is that seven-year-old Dorothy and five-year-old Manilla got in on the action too.
Witness as the couple introduce their children to the wonder of these apex predators as they instill in them a desire to love and protect the ocean and all its creatures. Much like taking children on a game drive to experience nature in the bush, its a wonder that not many parents have done the same.
Others have been impressed by the children’s courage.
“Swimming with sharks is one of my biggest fears,” one commenter says. “This video was very inspiring!”
