In fact, one of the few advertisements that people can never forget is the one featuring the Budweiser Clydesdales. The emotional content and, of course, the stunning horses will definitely impress you. But where did these gorgeous horses originate from, with their distinctive wide blazes and four white socks?
In order for these foals to grow up and act in everything from parades to commercials, extra particular care must be taken not just during breeding but also during socialising. That “someone” is John Soto. In Boonville, Missouri, he oversees the 300-acre Warm Springs Ranch, which is the breeding ground for the renowned Budweiser Clydesdales.
For the past 35 years, Soto has helped maintain their stunning stock and made sure that every foal is born healthy. He has helped to raise 400–500 Clydesdale horses over that time. Additionally, he takes care of the retired horses that have worked in the harness.
When they join one of Budweiser’s three traveling teams, it will be his responsibility to see to it that they are properly raised so they can perform as expected. And even if these young horses have attitude and sass, Soto treats them all with kindness and compassion.
