A real estate agent who took a wrong turn ended up finding what appears to be a dumping ground for dog fighters and discovered one dog alive!
Rock Hill real estate agent Casey Lawrence found the injured Pit Bull dumped in the woods after getting lost while showing a property. The dog was discarded and left to die after likely being used as a bait dog by dog fighters. He was surrounded by bones and animal carcasses!
Fortunately, Casey found the dog, now named Rambo, in time! She rushed Rambo to Baxter Veterinary Clinic. Rambo was covered with bite marks and lacerations and was severely injured, and his leg wounds infected with gangrene.
The clinic’s staff set to work to try and save Rambo’s life. They gently cleaned out his wounds.
They gave him antibiotics and IV and monitored him closely. After two days, Rambo was sitting up and wagging his tail a little bit.
He also showed some interest in eating, much to the relief of his vets.
Unfortunately, Rambo isn’t out of the woods yet. His right back leg was so severely injured that it had to be amputated.
Because of the extent of Rambo’s injuries, he was moved to Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE) for further treatment.
Every Life Matters Animal Rescue is supporting Rambo during his recovery. In a strike of good fortune it turns out that realtor Casey is a board member for the rescue! They wrote the following update on YouCaring after Rambo’s first surgery: “He’s been very out of it today from the anesthesia but he knows your there, when you leave he puts his paw up for you to come back.”
The rescue says they are hoping police investigate the area where Casey found Rambo to see if they can find out who is behind the illegal activities.
In the meantime, Rambo’s rescuers have their fingers crossed that he will continue to get better! He’s such a trooper!
