A Missouri animal shelter has rescued a three-month-old puppy who was found shaved with swastikas drawn onto her skin.
The pup, who has been named Leslie, was discovered by law enforcement with the message ‘don’t feed this dog’ etched on her back as well as other hateful markings.
She was taken into Rescue One, an animal rescue and veterinary clinic in Springfield, who then bathed the adorable puppy to ‘scrub all this hate off.’
The shelter wrote on social media: ‘Just when we think we have seen it all…
‘This 3 month old pup was shaved and has swastikas drawn all over her body. Also written on her back is “Don’t feed this (explicit) dog”.

After having several baths, the shelter said the dog is on the road to recovery as the horrible markings have faded significantly from when they first found her
‘We are thankful that law enforcement rescued this dog and that we get to be part of her journey to a great home.
‘She is heading for the tub to scrub-a-dub-dub all of this hate off. Only love here.’
Horrified dog lovers across the country joined in to thank the shelter for saving the pup, and spoke out against the people who drew on the dog.
One person said: ‘I’m speechless! People are horrible. I’m glad this poor dog is away from all of that hate and is with Rescue One. Thank you for what you do!’
Another said: ‘I honestly cannot even find words to describe how this makes me feel. An innocent puppy!! This is a new level of despicable!! Thank GOD she was found by officers & given to Rescue One. The future is bright for this sweet baby!!’
A third added: ‘Poor baby can you imagine how afraid she was while being shaved and drawn upon. May law enforcement find the dirt bags that did this.’

And another commented: ‘Over time it will fade until its gone. There is a special place in hell for the people who did that to her.’
In an update, the rescue shelter wrote: ‘The pup you have all been asking about is settling in great!
‘She has gotten several baths and the swastikas have faded a lot. She has met some doggie friends, taken lots of naps, and has been helpful at the clinic.
‘We have named her Leslie and she is perfect.’
One commenter asked the shelter: ‘Thank you for saving this sweet innocent baby. Do you know if the monsters that did this to her has been charged. This is unacceptable and disgusting.’
But the rescue responded that it is unfortunately not illegal to draw anything on your animals.
They said: ‘Unfortunately, it is not illegal to draw anything on your animal. It is illegal to repeatedly let them run loose so they were able to not return her for that reason.’
The shelter confirmed that applications to adopt Leslie are open.
