he Chicago Bulls are coming off a disappointing season where they were one win away from making it to the playoffs. Billy Donovan’s team apparently found its rhythm at the end of the campaign, but it wasn’t enough to become a top-6 team or to beat the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament.
Lonzo Ball has been inactive for a hot minute now, and many consider it’s time for the Bulls to move on from the point guard and see what they can get in the free market or via trade. However, it seems like the team’s front office is willing to wait for Lonzo.
“There are some people in the Chicago Bulls front office that want to run it back with the same team and wait for Lonzo Ball to return and there are some in the front office that want to make changes to this roster,” Daniel Greenberg writes.
Lonzo’s presence was really valuable for the Bulls. They played a lot better with the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard as the floor general. His playmaking and basketball IQ made a big impact on the squad, and after they lost that, Chicago has been wandering around the league.
They lost in the first round of the 2022 playoffs and this year couldn’t make it to the big party. Now the team is reportedly ready to make some changes, including moving DeMar DeRozan to make Zach LaVine their clear alpha dog.
This team has been trying to relive old glories without any success. Lonzo’s return could give them that extra boost to face big challenges, but it remains to be seen when that will happen.
Lonzo Ball Has A Terrible Injury History
The eldest Ball brother has been dealing with knee injuries and has only played in 35 games for the Bulls. He underwent a cartilage transplant surgery a couple of months ago, and now the Bulls wait to see if he can become the first player to come back and perform after getting this procedure.
Lonzo is held in high regard, as even Paul George considers him the most talented point guard in the NBA. Things could get very interesting for the Bulls if Lonzo comes back and helps them win, but only time will tell what version of Ball they’ll get.
