It’s a question that players everywhere will likely be asked for the next 10+ years: Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
The two players appear to be football’s next superstar duo, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For many, Mbappe is the best player in the world. Or at least, he has been over the past couple of years or so.
The Frenchman recently scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina, and is already PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer at the age of just 24.
But Haaland has gone to another level this season.
The Norwegian striker joined Manchester City last year, and has shattered records during his first season in English football.
He recently broke the record for most goals in a single Premier League campaign, surpassing Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole.
The star is just a lethal marksman, who has blown everyone away with his knack for scoring goals.

The Mbappe vs Haaland question was put to Brighton winger Mitoma, who was filming a video for ESPN UK.
Interestingly, the Japan international didn’t have to think for too long, before he actually plumped for French superstar Mbappe.
This may be down to the fact that Mbappe quite often plays out from the wing, just like Mitoma himself.
He is undoubtedly a much better dribbler than Haaland, which may be what swings it for Mitoma. Certainly, there is very little in it in terms of their goalscoring ability.
Haaland vs Mbappe is the new Messi vs Ronaldo
It will be fascinating to see how players answer this question in the years to come.
Right now, there is very little to separate Haaland and Mbappe.

Mitoma has gone for Mbappe and to be honest, it’s likely many will choose him over Haaland because he does have those stronger technical attributes than the City man.
But in time, Haaland’s technicality will improve no doubt.
