The all-new 2024 Tacoma breathes new life into the outdated mid-size pickup truck and eliminates the old model’s safety, style, and innovative issues.
Updated May 19, 2023: We have updated this article with hot information on how the all-new 2024 Tacoma rectifies all the old model’s flaws and hits it right out of the park with the redesign. The curtains are finally down on the next-gen Tacoma. Toyota has nailed it with sharp new styling, a redesigned tech-savvy interior, and a surprisingly powerful set of downsized engines.
After eight long years, we have an all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, and it has turned out to be the pickup truck segment disruptor that we were anticipating. While we were initially skeptical about Toyota ditching the tired-and-tested Tacoma V6, we are now awestruck with what the new turbo inline-4 engines have to offer. Apart from bumping up the torque across the board, the most powerful Toyota Tacoma ever now packs a hybrid turbo-four engine!
This hybrid powertrain has enough torque to shame the likes of the Ford Ranger Raptor and the Chevy Colorado ZR2. The 2024 Tacoma will also leave you spoiled for choices, as it now comes in eight trim levels, two cab configurations, and two-bed sizes. Amidst all these revolutionary changes, Toyota has also taken care of all the old Tacoma’s issues regarding safety, build quality, and outdated features. Oh. And then there is the first-ever 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter Overlanding trim! This is, without a doubt, the Tacoma’s sassiest comeback ever.
How The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Improves The Old Safety Concerns?Toyota
The speculation about safety concerns in Mexico may have been true since one of the recalls involved an improper weld on the child seat anchor. However, this was present on the 2022 model as well, and it’s unknown if those particular 22’ Tacoma models recalled were all built in Mexico. The Tacoma child seat anchor issue was huge in terms of safety.
There were some complaints revolving around the airbags of the 2022 Tacoma as well, which seemed to have been resolved with the 2023 model. Now with the all-new 2024 Tacoma, Toyota has taken a giant leap forward in terms of safety and convenience features. The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on all 2024 Tacoma trim levels.
ToyotaThis safety suite includes standard features like Pre-collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Hill Start Assist Control, and Automatic High Beams, to name a few. All the standard features have been improved in the TSS 3.0. An array of new sensors and enhances recognition software improves the dependency on these active safety features by a huge margin.
The Lane Tracing Assist is a new addition to the standard safety suite. It gets a new Emergency Driving Stop System. It monitors the driver’s inputs and smartly deduces if the person behind the steering is attentive or not. This greatly helps in protecting the passengers and fellow motorists in case of a sudden medical emergency. Road Sign Assist is also a new feature in the 2024 Tacoma.
Another notable new standard safety feature is Proactive Driving Assist. This feature acts as a driving assistant that utilizes the 2024 Tacoma’s array of cameras and radar sensors to gently assist in braking and steering when taking tricky corners. Optional features include Blind Sport Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, to name a few.
All these new and improved safety features of the 2024 Tacoma is an impressive bump as compared to the 2023 model.
The 2024 Tacoma Interior Is The Coolest And Most Technologically Advanced YetToyota
For advanced technologies, Toyota has finally gotten with the times. The 2024 Tacoma gets a redesigned interior that is strongly inspired by the new Tundra’s cabin. The dashboard has a new rugged layout, yet the materials used make it feel plush. Toyota has utilized a clever combination of physical buttons and a huge touchscreen to provide a balance of comfort, tech appeal, and accessibility.
The 2024 Tacoma gets an all-new 8-inch floating infotainment screen running on Toyota’s latest multimedia interface. This is the same setup that debuted on the redesigned Tundra in 2022. It can be upgraded to a bigger 14-inch unit as well. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for all 2024 Tacoma trims. Connectivity features are well accounted for, with loads of USB-C ports scattered across the cabin. Toyota also offers an optional Qi wireless charging pad.
The 2024 Tacoma instrument cluster is now fully digital with a 7-inch display standard on lower trims and a sizable 12.3-inch display on the top-spec trims. The 2024 Tacoma now comes with a Smart Key System that includes a push-button start. This can be bundled with an optional Digital Key that gets embedded in any compatible smartphone. Apart from this, a Smart Card key is also available, which brings about more convenience and coolness when carrying around your 2024 Tacoma key.
ToyotaThe 2023 Tacoma and its predecessors were lacking the type of style apparent with its contemporaries. The 2024 model turns a new leaf with a cool new look and attitude. One common complaint was that the Tacoma lacked legroom and wasn’t appropriate for drivers over 5’8”. That rules out a lot of people, and with a mid-sized truck, it shouldn’t be difficult to sit comfortably. The new generation Tacoma being built on the new TNGA-F platform solves that issue.
The 2024 Tacoma now sits taller and marginally wider than the last generation. This gives the occupants a more commanding sitting position in the cabin. Another major bump comes in the form of utility and space. The 2024 Tacoma cabin is loaded with cool storage spaces. The space under the rear seats now has three times the capacity as compared to the 2023 Tacoma. The center console comes with MOLLE panels that add a lot more versatility when it comes to storage.
When it comes to comfort, Toyota has left no stone unturned in the 2024 Tacoma. But the most impressive new feature comes in the 2024 TRD Pro model with the first-ever IsoDynamic Performance Seat. These are basically front-row seats with shock absorbers. It allows for the occupants to be stable, comfortable, and uninterrupted with the jerks and jumps while on an off-roading trail. This patent-pending feature greatly reduces fatigue and improves focus and comfort for the passenger and driver.
The 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro Is A Much Improved And Cooler Off-Road Pickup TruckToyota
Apart from getting a cool set of first-in-segment dynamic performance seats, there are a lot more cool bits that transform the 2024 TRD Pro into the coolest off-road Tacoma truck yet. The new platform already elevates the new Tacoma TRD Pro’s off-roading appeal. But taking things even further is its beefed-up suspension and tire setup.
It gets hardcore FOX QS3 shocks that come with manual adjustment for compression. This, coupled with cool TRD wheels wrapped around 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires, jack the 2024 Tacoma Off-Road model by 2 inches in the front and 1.5 inches at the rear. This translates to a pickup truck that doesn’t shy away from crawling over challenging terrains, including rocky ones. The i-Force Max hybrid engine of the Tacoma comes in as the perfect icing here.
The all-new turbocharged 2.5-Liter hybrid engine is standard here and churns out an impressive 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. This makes it the most powerful Tacoma ever made. There was nothing wrong with the old Tacoma TRD Pro. But we never knew that Toyota would be able to better something that was already close to awesome. The base engine is also a 2.5-Liter turbo but without the hybrid setup. It churns out 228 hp in the base models and up to 278 hp in the mid-trim levels.
ToyotaThat’s not all, as there is a new trim level that we believe will be more desirable than the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro for some. The all-new Tacoma Trailhunter is a dream pickup for all Overlanding lovers. It is the first-ever Overlanding pickup truck from the factory, and being a Tacoma, it is downright awesome. The Overlanding bits have been co-developed with Australia-based ARB. They have added in an Old Man Emu shocks all around with external remote reservoirs for the rear. Other distinctive bits include a steel rear bumper, rear recovery points, a bed utility bar with removable MOLLE panels, and an ARB bed rack to lay out accessories like rooftop tents.
