Danny Trejo pitches himself as a Mexican alternative to Keanu Reeves’ John Wick with AI art.
Danny Trejo has played plenty of tough guys on screen, but could play a Mexican version of Keanu Reeves’ character John Wick? Well, AI has imagined it, and Trejo has shared the results with the simple pitch that he could become Juan Wick and kill off even more people than his career has allowed him to so far.
In the never-ending wave of AI art and trailers that are popping up on the internet, there are some that work and some that don’t. If it is good enough for Danny Trejo to share it though, then who is going to argue with that. The John Wickfranchise has been doing pretty well having just passed the $1 billion mark in its total box office gross across four movies, so why would Trejo not fancy his own piece of that.
Sharing three different AI images that put him in the guise of John Wick, the actor was happy to to suggest that he would be more than happy to see himself becoming the Mexican version of Reeves’ assassin. He commented:
“They just messed with the wrong Mexican #JuanWick”
While the images themselves have been around for a little while now, they seem to have just come to Trejo’s attention, but his timing couldn’t be better with John Wick: Chapter 4 having been a huge smash in cinemas recently, and two spin-offs coming soon. If only there was a space for him in the franchise, he would certainly fit perfectly into the world of Wick.
Could Danny Trejo Be In The John Wick Franchise?Fox Network
Although it seems almost incomprehensible to believe that Danny Trejo has not already featured in the John Wick saga, the change may not have passed just yet. John Wick: Chapter 4 ended in a way that potentially closed the book on Keanu Reeves character for good, and TV event prequel The Continental has already been completed. Movie spin-off Ballerina appears to have also rounded out its cast, but that doesn’t mean there could not be a space for a gun-totting Mexican in the film somewhere. Even if that doesn’t happen, it seems likely that these current projects will not be the last to come from the world of Wick, so there is still time for it happen somewhere.
However, even without a starring role in the John Wick universe, there is plenty for Trejo fans to look forward to as the actor currently has no less than 28 projects in various stages of production including a feature length version of Tim Travers & the Time Traveler’s Paradox, Wages of Sin and the highly anticipated Machete Kills in Space, which is in pre-production.
In addition to this, Trejo has recently lent his voice to Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Minions: The Rise of Gru, and appeared in numerous movies including Wolf Mountain and Renegades. He even put in an appearance in new Disney+ series The Muppets Mayhem, which follows on from his cameo in Muppets Haunted Mansion last year.
