Erling Haaland pokes fun at his father, Alf-Inge, after securing the Premier League title with Manchester City in his first season in England, jokingly boasting that he now has one more league title than his dad.

After clinching the Premier League title in his debut season with Manchester City, Erling Haaland couldn’t resist teasing his father, Alf-Inge, about his own accomplishments with the club. The rising star playfully mocked his dad’s achievements at City, highlighting his own success with the team.

Alf-Inge Haaland spent three years at City between 2000 and 2003, but the team were relegated from the Premier League in his first season and he rarely played after that due to a serious knee injury.

Times have changed at City since then, with Pep Guardiola’s side becoming the team to beat in England, and on Sunday they lifted their fifth title in six seasons.

It was Erling’s first trophy since he joined from Borussia Dortmund last summer, and he could not resist aiming a dig at his dad afterwards.

‘We enjoy this together, the whole family, especially dad. This is not something you experience every day, so it must be enjoyed,’ he told ViaPlay.

‘Now I can finally say that I have won one Premier League more than him. It is not wrong to have that on your CV.’

Alf-Inge has been alongside his son throughout his career to date, and was seen filming Erling when he went to collect his medal ahead of the trophy lift at the Etihad Stadium, before the pair celebrated together on the pitch.

Haaland Snr played a significant role in securing him a move to City in the first place, and has been at most of his games throughout the season.

He was escorted out of a Real Madrid VIP box earlier this month for allegedly throwing peanuts at the home fans – a claim he later denied.

There could be more celebrations to come for Erling and Alf-Inge in the coming weeks, with City playing in two cup finals over the next fortnight as they aim to win the Treble for the first time in their history.

Haaland has been City’s star man this term, scoring an astonishing 36 goals in the league and 52 across all competitions.

But he was keen to point out that it was a group effort as he thanked his team-mates for helping him take the Premier League by storm this year.

‘These are memories I will remember for the rest of my life. We’ve been fighting so hard and honestly I don’t know what to say – I didn’t plan anything to say! It’s special,’ Haaland told Sky Sports.

‘I’m just gonna enjoy this day. This is a so special moment with the trophy and all the players and the whole club. Without the club and my teammates it would not be possible. Amazing.’
