But the first goal was one to remember, with Christian Eriksen brilliantly assisting a clearly pre-planned corner routine.
The Dane sent a perfectly-weighted ball along the turf for Rashford, who darted into space as his teammates blocked off the Forest markers.
He then sent a first-time effort past a helpless Wayne Hennessey, sending Old Trafford alight.
“One off the training ground,” said talkSPORT commentator Ian Danter. “Eriksen rolled it along the ground and it was lashed in gleefully by Marcus Rashford.
Former Premier League fullback Micky Gray added: “Class. That’s what it is.
“It’s just brilliant, the thought behind it, they’ve worked on it in training, and the run from Rashford is first class, he gets away from his man and has acres of space and just has to make contact with the pace on the ball.”

The goal was Rashford’s fifth of the season in the league, while he has 10 in 21 games for club and country after starring for England at the World Cup.
