Manchester United are ‘100% open’ to selling right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka despite his re-emergence in the team, according to an update from renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The Englishman may have earned some playing time since the 2022 World Cup but it is clear that he doesn’t feature in Erik ten Hag’s long-term plans.
Diogo Dalot has very much made the right-back spot his own when he is fit and Wan-Bissaka has often looked too limited technically to thrive in this United side, despite a slight uptick in Dalot’s absence.
Numerous recent rumours have claimed that the defender could move in the near future with the likes of Wolves and West Ham linked.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano confirmed that United are definitely planning on selling Wan-Bissaka:
“They are 100% open to letting him go. They want Wan-Bissaka out.
“At that moment, they would want to bring in a new right-back. We will see who’s going to be the new one.”
Wan-Bissaka’s effort levels can never be questioned, having always given his all for United and impressed over the last couple of games. In fact, Whoscored ranked the former Crystal Palace youngster as the Red Devils’ best five players against Wolves on Saturday.
But he is not at the required level to be a success at Old Trafford.
He can be good defensively on his day, even though he has a penchant for going to ground too often, but just 11 assists in 130 appearances highlight his lack of attacking quality.
A move to a lower-ranked Premier League side makes complete sense for everyone, allowing Wan-Bissaka to be a regular again, not to mention getting him off United’s wage bill.
