Roberto Firmino could leave Liverpool and go to Saudi Arabian clubs

Roberto Firmino is edging towards staying with Liverpool despite receiving offers to leave Anfield for a move to Saudi Arabia this year.

That’s according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Firmino is leaning towards a contract extension with the Reds.

It’s stated that a final decision hasn’t been made just yet but the talks have been positive so far, leaving Firmino think about staying put.

Plettenberg does though note that Firmino has requests from clubs in Saudi Arabia and some of them are pushing for his signature.

Al-Nassr – fresh from signing Cristiano Ronaldo just a few days ago – aren’t believed to be in the race for Firmino.

The Brazilian is out of contract at the end of the season and can sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-English club right now.

That doesn’t seem to be happening though and Liverpool may well see more of Firmino yet.

Firmino joined Liverpool from Hoffenheim in a £29million deal back in 2015.

ROBERTO FIRMINO SIGNING NEW CONTRACT WOULD REALLY BOOST LIVERPOOL ATTACK

Firmino turned 31 in October and some have suggested that he is a fading force in the Liverpool attack.

Seven goals in just 13 Premier League games this season – as well as three assists – would suggest that notion is very wrong.

Firmino may lose pace as he heads into his 30’s but speed was never the main threat he provided.

An outstanding presser and a player with superb skill in and around the box, Firmino has linked Liverpool’s attack together for years, often at the expense of his own numbers.

Another year or two for Firmino does make some sense for Liverpool and provides incredible depth moving forward.

Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and new signing Cody Gakpo will give Jurgen Klopp six quality options in attack.

Liverpool do look to be getting a little old, so they can’t really afford to commit to Firmino for too long, but keeping him as they transition towards a new-look attack make sense.
