Law has become one of One piece’s most popular supporting characters. Will Oda really kill him off?
Trafalgar Law is the captain of the Heart Pirates and one of the members of the Worst Generation. He made his debut during the Sabaody Archipelago arc, along with the other Supernovas. Law immediately caught the eye of One Piece fans with his cool character design and interesting personality. Unlike the other members of the Worst Generation, Law went on to become one of the main characters in One Piece.
The earliest indication of Law becoming one of the main leads was when he turned up at Marineford and saved Luffy from certain death. After the time skip, Law became heavily involved in the story. He formed an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates in order to take down Doflamingo and Kaido. The alliance went through many tough challenges, but eventually they managed to accomplish both of their goals. Law’s contribution in taking down Big Mom was recognized by the World Government, and they increased his bounty to 3 billion berries, which is one of the highest in the series. Shortly after leaving Wano, Law and his crew were involved in a significant incident that could potentially shape the future.
Showdown With Blackbeard
In chapter 1063, it was revealed that the Heart Pirates were being chased by the Blackbeard Pirates. The Emperor’s crew was tenacious in their pursuit, which forced the Heart Pirates to resurface. Once Law and his crew were out of the water, the Blackbeard Pirates started their onslaught. The main culprits behind the attacks were Van Augur, Jesus Burgess, Doc Q, and Blackbeard. With the help of their devil fruit powers, the Blackbeard Pirates caused a lot of problems for the Law’s crew. However, the Supernova wasn’t willing to go down so easily.
Law used his Ope Ope no Mi to nullify most of the attacks of the Blackbeard Pirates. The rest of the members of the Heart Pirates took to the sea and started attacking the Emperor’s ship. Seeing the effort of the Heart Pirates, it was clear that they weren’t going to just stand there while the Blackbeard Pirates continued to attack them. Previously, the chances of the Heart Pirates winning were considered to be only a modicum, but they proved the doubters wrong with their determination.
Law vs Blackbeard
Many believe that Law’s battle with Blackbeard portends the end for the former. Although it is tough to ignore that Law managed to injure Blackbeard and nullify the power of his Gura Gura no Mi. Given Law’s feats in the Wano Country arc, it was not surprising to see him compete against an Emperor. The fight between Law and Blackbeard is further proof that the former has improved as a fighter.
The two characters exchanged blows for a while. However, Oda did not bring the fight to its conclusion, which is not surprising as he has followed this paradigm before as well. A similar example is the fight between Ace and Blackbeard, which took place on Banaro Island. The two went all out, but Oda didn’t reveal the result of the fight until much later. The end product of the fight between the two pirates had far-reaching effects. If the pattern is anything to go by, then Law could be in trouble and Blackbeard will once again emerge victorious.
Will Blackbeard Kill Law?
Blackbeard has stated that he wants the Road Poneglyphs that are in Law’s possession. The Emperor has at least one Road Poneglyph, which he probably stole from Whole Cake Island. Law has two Road Poneglyphs— one from Zou and the other from Wano. If Blackbeard wins the fight (which he most likely will), then he would have three out of the four Road Poneglyphs, which is the same number as the Straw Hat Pirates. Considering Blackbeard is deemed the final villain of the series, it makes sense for him to catch up to his rival. Blackbeard has also managed to kidnap Charlotte Pudding, and he intends to use her Third Eye to decipher the Poneglyphs and find out the location of Laugh Tale.
If everything goes according to his plan, then Blackbeard would come extremely close to claiming the One Piece. At the moment, all the signs point toward a defeat for Trafalgar Law and the Heart Pirates. The question that arises here is once Blackbeard gets what he wants, will he leave with the Road Poneglyphs or does he have another plan specifically for Trafalgar Law?
The only reason why Blackbeard would kill Law is to acquire the Ope Ope no Mi, which has been called the “Ultimate Devil Fruit.” It has been stated multiple times that the Blackbeard Pirates are hunting down individuals with powerful devil fruits, so once Law is defeated, there is no reason for Blackbeard to let him go free. It is possible that Blackbeard knows about the full potential of the Ope Ope no Mi, so he would want one of his crew members to have it. Or Blackbeard might even force Law to use the Immortality Operation on him. As things stand, Law is in a heap of trouble; unless he is helped by someone, the chances of his survival are pretty grim.
