‘The Leader of The Bloodline’ has made up the leeway in WWE since his debut in the 2010 Battle Royal. He worked through the spectacular faction, The Shield, and steadily built up all that needs to accomplish his goals in WWE championships within the past decade. Currently, Roman Reigns is the undisputed champion, after beating The Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania 38.
Yet, the ‘Tribal Chief’ seems to have many naysayers and critics from all over the WWE universe. Especially, in the Royal Rumble 2015, fans did not support WWE’s big push for the Samoan superstar. Also, in that match Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was there to help his cousin, but even ‘The People’s Champ’ could not change the audience’s mind.
The Tribal Chief’s First WWE Title At The 30-Man Battle Royal And The Crowd’s Reactions
WWE is a branch of sports entertainment where the fans have a tremendous role in deciding the future of superstars. The 30-man Battle Royal in the 2015 Royal Rumble was a reminder of that fact. The WWE fandom wants compelling storylines in which the faces must have the potential and backdrop to deserve a title. However, in 2015, the Philadelphia crowd chose to boo Roman Reigns after he won the match and booked a spot at WrestleMania.
After the break-up of ‘The Shield’, Reigns quickly rose to the top in WWE rankings as a solo star. WWE pushed the golden boy right into the main event picture and a large part of WWE fandom perceived the situation as WWE trying to push Reigns as a new ‘John Cena’. Despite going with the people’s interest, WWE went on with Reigns’ trajectory, as The Big Dog’s Royal Rumble victory tainted with an infamous shade.
When Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Failed To Convince People To Respect Roman Reigns
Roman booked his place in the main event of WrestleMania 31 by winning the battle royal against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Bubba Ray Dudley, Bray Wyatt, Kane, Big Show and Rusev. Here, the crowd considered Reigns a heel, and Daniel Bryan was the favorite, although the WWE team did not favor Bryan. After the victory, the crowd booed ‘The Tribal Chief’, thunderously shouting bad words toward him. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appeared to help his cousin in the closing moments, but even his approval could not appease the audience.
In WWE Evil Series, Reigns says, “Every bit of who I am has gone into this character. They booed me louder than I’ve ever heard before. I’d never been booed like that. They hurt my feelings. They did. Because at the end of the day we’ re all humans.”
Nevertheless, in the end, ‘The Head of The Table’ proved his greatness. The Juggernaut did not rely on when would the crowd finally start to ‘acknowledge’ him. Moreover, Roman Reigns has many more years to go and will be proving his prowess through many challenges.
