Another winter storm system will be arriving Sunday in Southern California, bringing heavy downpour in some parts of the region.
The new atmospheric river will start moving in from the north late Sunday.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to bring two solid days of rain, with an inch or more expected near downtown Los Angeles and up to 3 inches in some valley communities.
TIMELINE:
- Monday, 5 a.m. – Portions of Ventura County will start to see some rainfall as the storm system moves down from Northern California.
- Monday, noon – Los Angeles County should begin seeing rain.
- Monday, 6 p.m. – More rainfall comes back toward northern portions of Southern California.
- Tuesday, 4 a.m. – Widespread rainfall expected throughout all of SoCal.
- Tuesday, 11 a.m. – Another band of rain is expected to come back, making way for much drier conditions on Wednesday.
But first on Sunday, Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect a high temperature around 63 degrees with cloudy skies and a chance of light drizzle as the storm beings approaching. The storm will hit its peak on Tuesday and some lightning is possible.
The valleys and Inland Empire will be cool and cloudy on Sunday, with a high of 63.
Beaches will see some showers with a high of 63 with 5-8 foot surf.
Mountains will be cloudy and windy with a high of just 46 degrees, dropping to 22 overnight. On Tuesday snow levels will reach 6,500 feet.
