Chris Hemsworth has moved to Broken Hill in New South Wales to film the Mad Max prequel Furiosa.
And it seems the 38-year-old megastar is already a hit with the locals.
According to The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, a number of the locals have already encountered the Hollywood superstar, and by all accounts Chris is winning them over with his charm.
‘He was really polite, a real gentleman,’ resident Natalie Robinson told the publication on Thursday
‘He was walking up and down the street, everyone was shaking his hand and asking for a photo and that is going right along our main street.’
Chris’ wife Elsa Pataky has been seen around town, too.
Chris’ co-star Anya Taylor-Joy, of The Queen’s Gambit, has also relocated to the town.
The new Mad Max film, called Furiosa, will begin filming this month.
Last year, former NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the highly anticipated Mad Max prequel would be filmed locally.
Berejiklian said it would be the ‘largest film ever to be filmed here’, creating 850 jobs and injecting at least $350million into the local economy.
She went on to praise the movie’s cast and crew, and said the production would ‘showcase Australian talent at its best’.
‘Chris, who’s made Australia his home, he’s a global superstar and works here in NSW, and I couldn’t feel prouder about him and his generation of actors that are really continuing to put Australia on the map,’ she said.
Anya is best known for playing the lead role in Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit.
She also starred in Emma and The Northman, in which she stars alongside Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman.
Mad Max Furiosa is scheduled for release in 2024
