Though these powers look cool in anime, they wouldn’t do fans any favors in the real world.
There are some anime abilities considered so powerful that many fans want nothing more than to wield it. Such a desire is natural; they’re so visually and conceptually stunning that even characters in their respective series envy them.
However, actually wielding many overpowered abilities would be completely useless in real life. Whether requiring extremely specific conditions to use properly or simply not translating well into the real world, many of anime’s strongest powers have too many conditions to actually weaponize effectively and in a way that behooves the user. Sometimes, they can even be placed in danger.
10/10 All For One’s Power Depends On The Existence Of Quirks
My Hero Academia
All For One’s Quirk is without a doubt the most powerful ability in My Hero Academia. It allows him to steal other peoples’ Quirk, either redistributing it or keeping it for himself. This allowed him to be a nearly limitless antagonist only defeated after nine generations of One For All users.
However, without any Quirks aside from its own, All For One is a pathetic ability with no practical uses. Like One For All, it’s entirely contingent on those around it to increase its strength.
9/10 Bites The Dust Has Niche Uses
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Bites The Dust was the only reason Kira survived so long in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It killed whoever heard of Kira’s true identity, then reset reality with their demise predetermined.
However, this ability is extremely niche and would only realistically work if the user in question is a serial killer whose identity is at risk of being exposed. Given that most authorities collect evidence about suspects before confronting them, Bites The Dust wouldn’t even be that effective for such a sinister intention.
8/10 Emperor Time Only Works On Members Of The Phantom Troupe
Hunter X Hunter
Emperor Time is arguably the strongest ability in Hunter X Hunter. It allows the user to access all schools of Nen, making them unspeakably versatile and difficult to defeat. It proved Kurapika’s salvation when defeating Uvogin, a world class enhancement fighter.
However, Emperor Time’s condition is strict and unforgiving. Should it be employed against anyone outside the Phantom Troupe, it would take the user’s life. Considering that the Phantom Troupe doesn’t actually exist, this would make the entire ability worthless in the real world.
7/10 Escanor’s Sunshine Is A Danger To Those Around Him
Seven Deadly Sins
Escanor is well known for being an overpowered character in Seven Deadly Sins. Even at the height of Meliodas’ demonic might, he defeated him in a brutal duel that determined the Sins’ true powerhouse.
However, Escanor’s “Sunshine” has serious downsides if used in real life. He wields so much power that it is difficult for him to control. This was seen during the reclamation of Liones, where his heat accidentally cooked nearby Holy Knights in their own armor and compelled them to take it off.
6/10 The Byakugan Is Most Useful For Targeting Chakra Points
Naruto
As a visual kekkei genkai, the Byakugan has extremely high potential in Naruto. It allows the user to pinpoint enemy chakra locations, making it significantly easier to cut off the flow of their energy. Although such an ability may sound outstanding, it has many practical flaws in real life.
Most people don’t get into fights often, and those who do aren’t usually capable of unleashing a flurry of attacks similar to Neji’s palm techniques. Additionally, cutting off an opponent’s chakra is not especially useful since they don’t actually have ninjutsu in the first place.
5/10 Ritsu’s Abominations Are Too Horrific For Practical Use
Fire Force
Ritsu’s Ignition Ability was unique and deadly among Fire Force’s White-Clad. She could stitch numerous infernals together to make a towering monstrosity stronger than the aggregate of its parts. Under the right conditions, Ritsu could even trap a victim within the aberration’s massive, pulsating body.
However, considering that infernals don’t actually exist in real life, a user of her ability would never have the materials to bring her darkest designs to life. Potent as her Ignition Ability might be, most people wouldn’t desire such blind, needless chaos in the first place.
4/10 The Gum-Gum Fruit Is Harder To Use Than It Seems
One Piece
The Gum-Gum Fruit has evolved more than any other Devil Fruit in One Piece. Now a weapon capable of toppling emperors, Luffy has become known as one of the most promising pirates of all time.
However, the fruit has a startling number of limits that would make it nearly impossible for ordinary people to use. For example, it took Luffy’s entire childhood in order to weaponize it optimally. Further, it was officially stated that if used recklessly, strong moves like Gear 2 can shorten the user’s lifespan.
3/10 Death 13 Requires Murderous Intent & Proximity To The Victim
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Death 13 is a Stand that can infiltrate an opponent’s dreams and turn them into nightmares. Considering that the victim forgets being attacked after waking up, the user hypothetically has as many chances as they need to kill their targets.
However, Death 13 only activates when the user is in reasonably close proximity to their victims. It is also a Stand used entirely for maiming and murder, making it worthless for the objectives of typical and well-adjusted people. Death 13 may be a powerful villainous ability, though it has evident practical flaws.
2/10 The Colossal Titan Transformation Destroys Everything Around The User
Attack On Titan
As its name suggests, the Colossal Titan is the second most powerful shifter in Attack On Titan. Standing at sixty meters tall and with strength to match, it was almost four times larger than its armored and attack counterparts.
However, the Colossal Titan unavoidably unleashes a massive explosion when it detonates. This means that any ordinary person who hopes to use it would also obliterate all immediate civilization nearby. They can’t even enjoy it in an open field, as the Colossal has the worst endurance of its kind.
1/10 One For All Only Works Due To Previous Users
My Hero Academia
One For All is the only Quirk capable of challenging All For One. Stockpiled from the strength and abilities of previous users, it has become associated with comfort for innocent people and terror to those who would do them wrong.
However, should One For All be placed in the real world, its first user would be completely worthless since they’re at the beginning of the stockpile. Even if they somehow managed to learn Deku’s power, they would risk destroying their own bodies without proper training to use it.
