The ’63 classic Chevy sedan needs some restoration but has the potential for a second chance at life.
Ryan from the YouTube channel IowaClassicCars rescues another classic car in the latest video on the channel, this time a 1963 Chevrolet Impala sedan. The classic Chevrolet car has sat for many years and was last on the road nearly forty years ago. Check out the video to see Ryan save the car, get it back to the shop, and assess its condition before going over some of the other classic car projects that he is currently working on and has in the pipeline.
1963 Chevrolet Impala Sedan Rescue
It’s a cold day in Iowa as he picks up his friend to go and pick up the Chevy Impala. They travel to the property where the Impala sits, revealing it to be a two-tone 1963 sedan. While the exterior of the car looks fairly solid, the interior of the car is in rough shape, especially with the seats and other interior components missing.
However, the car is savable overall, though it’ll require some restoration work. Besides the interior, there are some manageable rust issues, particularly on the floor panel.
The Impala has a 283 automatic on the column and the car has essentially sat since 1983 but last ran about eight years ago. Despite the classic “ran when parked” story on the car, the sizable amount of corrosion underneath the hood leads to doubt that the car will run again now, making it likely that the Impala will need a new engine to run properly. Like any rescue, the Impala will need a full evaluation to determine the extent of necessary repairs.

Once back at the shop, he takes a look at another car which appears to be a 1959 Oldsmobile. He goes over what he plans to keep from the car for parts for his own use before sending the car away. He wants to keep the window tracks and regulator from the car, before explaining how to disassemble the door and remove the glass on a car like this. He also will keep the window trim and the rear window glass, a part that is often hard to find that he can use in the future.
He loads up a 1960 OIdsmobile 88 and a 1959 Pontiac, each of which is in rough shape body-wise, and headed to Nebraska as parts donor cars. He also talks about a 1952 Oldsmobile that he sold as a parts car and another Impala sitting on the property that is missing much of the bottom components of the vehicle, which will get used for the remaining parts.
The other cars he’s currently working on are a 1965 Impala with a 327, a 1962 that will get a 230 inline 6 engine swap, a sold 1959, and a 1961 which is still available and has received a lot of attention but no buyer yet. He also has two classic Pontiacs that will be leaving soon. He’s heading to Nebraska in the near future to get more cars, which will get shown in future videos.
