One Piece’s latest chapter ended with a major bombshell that should change how the story plays out for the foreseeable future.
“Pirates Will Betray You.” These are the words of Kaido, one of the Yonko and the “Strongest Creature in the World.” When someone as powerful as Kaido says something, it clearly holds a lot of significance. Kaido’s words have been inspired by his past, which was filled with ups and downs. Unsurprisingly, these words have turned out to be true time and time again in One Piece. Pirates have been known for betraying their most loyal friends for some extra cash. They are the ones who hold the reputation of being treacherous, so when Stussy betrayed Kaku and Lucci, it shocked the entire One Piece community.
After the trio made their way to the Frontier Dome, it seemed that Vegapunk and the Straw Hats were in serious trouble. In fact, Kaku wasted almost no time fighting Roronoa Zoro. The fight continued for a bit, and Kaku even revealed his Zoan awakening. However, before the duel could reach its conclusion, Kaku was knocked out by Stussy, who seemed to have bitten him. Rob Lucci watched these events unfold before his eyes and was horrified. Even the “Massacre Weapon” couldn’t believe that he was being betrayed by one of his fellow assassins. Why Did Stussy Betray Them?
Stussy has always come off as a murky person. Even in the Whole Cake Island arc, she was extremely cautious with her words, and her interaction with Du Feld was also strange. Stussy is involved with the Underworld, and she has gained the title of “Queen of the Pleasure District.” As an emperor of the Underworld, Stussy has very likely been involved in some shady deals, and she probably knows many other influential members. It is possible that she is working with someone from the Underworld to take down the World Government.
Stussy being a copy of Miss Buckingham could also be a major reason behind her disloyalty. She has been confirmed to be the first clone created by MADS, and Dr. Vegapunk was one of the group’s leading members. So, it makes sense for her to protect someone who created her. Stussy has stated that she has visited the island before. Furthermore, she knew about all the defense systems that Vegapunk was using, which implies that she is on good terms with him.
What Will Happen Next?
Considering the fact that Stussy and the other CP0 members were sent on a top-secret government mission, there will be major repercussions for her actions. Firstly, Rob Lucci is going to fight her. The follower of Evil Justice will not let Stussy’s perfidy pass. He has killed people for far less, so he will definitely engage her in combat. It will be interesting to see if Lucci decides to use the Seraphim against her, and if he does, will Stussy be able to order them to stand down?
Secondly, when the news of her betrayal reaches the World Government, they will excommunicate her, and she will be hunted by their loyal assassins and the Marines. However, it might take some time for the information to leak, allowing Stussy to get away from Egghead Island.

The next chapter will likely focus on Stussy’s interaction with Lucci, and if Oda is feeling generous, he might even reveal the backstory of Stussy and how she was created by MADS.
