Exclusive: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania producer Stephen Broussard explains why Kang the Conqueror is even more dangerous than Thanos.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania producer Stephen Broussard explains what makes Kang an even bigger threat than Thanos. Thanos was a massive threat to the universe which the MCU took the entire Infinity Saga to build up to as he amassed the power needed to enact his plan. Now, a new threat will emerge with Kang the Conqueror, who will prove to be even more dangerous than Thanos because of his power and understanding of time as well as the multiverse.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Broussard broke down what makes Kang more dangerous than Thanos as an Avengers-level threat. He explained that the Kang variants are infinite, while Thanos was an individual. Broussard also discussed the conflicts between Kang variants, comparing it to a war between gods.

Kang is the next big Avengers-level threat after Thanos, and Thanos wiped out half the universe. What makes Kang even more dangerous?

Stephen Broussard: I think what makes Kang so dangerous is that we’re almost caught in a war of Gods. They clearly exist in this heightened state. They’ve cracked the code of the multiverse, as He Who Remains kind of explains to us, and they form this uneasy alliance. [It] doesn’t always go well, which is why they banish [Kang the Conqueror] here.

And humanity, as they say, is starting to scratch at the door of the multiverse. We’ve been protected. We’ve been sort of isolated in what I call our terrarium, which is the analogy we used in Loki season 1. That door gets kicked down, which is what you see in the events of No Way Home and the events of Multiverse of Madness. And there’s a chaos that breeds into that; the chaos of possibility and the chaos of different things colliding together is really scary to me.

There was a singular-ness of Thanos that was frightening. But Kangs don’t even agree amongst themselves, which is what’s exciting to think about. The unpredictable nature of that feels like it’s a threat that is every bit as scary as Thanos, but not feeling like a retread to us.

How Much Damage Can Kang Do In The MCU After Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?

Thanos caused massive damage within the MCU, which is still being felt by the universe, but his impact was isolated to a single universe. The consequences of Kang’s actions could be felt across the multiverse. The multiverse being kicked open has already had major effects on the MCU with Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Kang hasn’t even begun his reign of conquest within the MCU’s main timeline, but Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could change that.

Kang the Conqueror’s introduction in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania brings a truly dangerous variant into the MCU, where He Who Remains was trying to warn Loki and keep the MCU’s “sacred timeline” from interacting with the multiverse. Kang is a hugely powerful being with a better understanding of time and the multiverse than anyone else. On top of that, there are an endless number of dangerous variants who, according to Broussard, seem to have a tenuous alliance at best.

What makes Kang a bigger threat than Thanos is that he seems so far out of the Avengers league and understanding, especially as the Avengers stand right now. If the Kang variants are fighting among themselves for control, what chance do the Avengers stand? Especially after Kang alluded to killing Avengers in the past in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer. Thanos was terrifying in his steadfast beliefs and willingness to kill for his own goals. Kang is even more dangerous because his goals seem loftier than Thanos’, and his true adversaries, at this point, aren’t the Avengers but his own variants, especially as the MCU heroes are still trying to understand what the multiverse even is.
