A new ‘contract proposal’ has already been sent to an increasingly influential Man Utd star who Fabrizio Romano confirmed is poised to extend his stay in a huge boost for Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways on Sunday upon sinking bitter rivals Leeds United on enemy territory. The unstoppable Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with just 10 minutes remaining before substitute Alejandro Garnacho put the game to bed shortly after.
Rashford was again moved away from his favoured left flank toa accommodate the young Argentine upon being introduced. The decision was quickly justified when Garnacho showed Luke Ayling a clean pair of heels before finishing inside Illan Meslier’s near post.
Garnacho has become an increasingly influential figure at Old Trafford this term. Indeed, he’s scored three and assists six in 23 appearances across all competitions.
Those figures might not sound overly impressive on first view, but it’s important to note Garnacho has generally been used off the bench. As such, he’s currently averaging a goal contribution every 94.3 minutes – essentially one per full game.
Garnacho’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024 and Man Utd have an option for an extra 12 months.
However, there have been rumblings of interest from Real Madrid and Juventus and United are understandably keen to tie their livewire down to a new and improved deal.
Man Utd deal ‘very advanced’; new Garnacho salary hinted
The transfer guru tweeted United ‘have already sent the new contract proposal to Alejandro Garnacho and his representatives’.
Talks are described as being ‘very advanced’, and among the two final details to be ironed out are image rights and the length of the contract.
Given Garnacho’s meteoric rise, United will presumably be aiming to add as many years onto the deal as they can. The longer his contract is, the stronger United’s bargaining position will be when he inevitably generates heavy transfer interest down the line.
In any case, United remain ‘confident’ the important deal will cross the line soon.
Romano did not hint at what Garnacho’s pay packet could rise to, though other outlets have in the past.
Indeed, the Daily Star reported Garnacho pockets around £5,000-a-week at present and could be in line to see a tenfold increase up to £50,000.
The Independent, meanwhile, put Garnacho’s current wages at £7,000 and revealed an earlier United offer was worth £20,000-a-week.
The Mirror later claimed United’s intention is to secure a deal for around £32,000-a-week, though what is clear is Garnacho is edging closer to putting pen to paper nonetheless.
