The latest episode of One Piece announces a brief hiatus until the next episode, revealing that the anime series won’t return until March 19.
The ongoing anime adventures of One Piece will face a minor delay, taking a short break before sailing back for fans in March.
A preview for the next installment of the long-running anime debuted on the show’s official YouTube channel after the latest episode, “Sanji’s Mutation – The Two Arms in Crisis!,” released on Sunday, Feb. 26. It gave a look at the upcoming Episode 1054, as well as the news that the series would be taking a short hiatus, returning from a three-week hiatus on March 19. Sunday’s episode ended on a cliffhanger as the battle between Sanji and Queen intensified, the follow-up episode is titled, “Death To Your Partner! Killer’s Deadly Gamble!”

The preview video for One Piece Episode 1054 focuses on the struggles of Killer and Eustass “Captain” Kid as they find themselves at the losing end of the battle against Big Mom and Hawkins. The preview teases Killer taking a huge risk in an attempt to save his captain and defeat their enemies after being tricked by a spell from Hawkins and inadvertently bringing Kid to the brink of death.
The manga itself, written by Eiichiro Oda, has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since 1997, with the latest One Piece chapter, 1076, continuing the long-running story with more thrilling developments. The franchise follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy as he leads the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates on a quest to find the legendary treasure of the former Pirate King Gol D Roger; a treasure known as One Piece.
One Piece’s anime is produced by Toei Animation and has been running since 1999. In that time it has produced over 1000 episodes and 15 movies, the latest of which was One Piece Film: Red which saw the franchise achieve the biggest box office numbers in its history. Oda himself even owns a space in the Guinness World Book of Records for the most amount of issues published by a single author in a comic-book series.
The entire anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll, with Netflix hosting the One Piece: Stampede movie and an upcoming live-action One Piece series. The next episode will be available to stream on March 19, 2023, with the Toriko x One Piece x Dragon Ball Z crossover broadcasting an English dub on Toonami on March 4, 2023, during the wait.
